Credit Card Complaint…Nope Fraud!

There have been recurring incidents involving both attempted and confirmed fraud, often only identified retrospectively. The establishment receives a minimum of five credit card fraud reports weekly. Despite providing signed receipts and copies of delivery confirmations to the designated address, fraudulent parties frequently prevail in these cases.

In a recent incident, a customer purchased pizza at the store and completed payment. Upon receiving their order, the customer was unable to locate their credit card and alleged that staff had retained the card. Shortly thereafter, another individual entered the premises and accused staff of dishonesty concerning the card’s whereabouts, displaying agitation during the interaction. The exchange persisted for approximately 20 minutes, after which the owner reviewed surveillance footage confirming that the customer had placed the card into their own pocket. Similar behavior has reportedly been observed with this individual and their family at other establishments in Pueblo.

Business Lesson Learned: When establishing a brick-and-mortar business, it is essential to ensure your camera system is up-to-date. We upgraded our system to HD with remote streaming capabilities, which has proven highly valuable during numerous incidents. Additionally, the footage has served as important evidence for previous matters.
